Therefore, we decided to give consideration to educating our community about pending laws and highlight the significance of focusing on voting rights at this moment. The White House and the Justice Department recognized AUWCL for students’ efforts to stop evictions in D.C. WCL answered a name to motion from Attorney Gen. Merrick Garland to handle the housing and eviction disaster. In the 5 months since, greater than 40 college students have volunteered 3,000 hours of authorized help to stop two dozen scheduled evictions in the higher DC area.
