BB Italia’s London showroom is hosting a ceramics exhibition to raise money for Maggie’s cancer support charity. The show features work by Ceramicspace, a collective of six potters who collaborate with architects and interior designers.
Ceramicspace members, including Vicky Thorton, Marie-Louise Munch, and Rebecca Williams, will display their work alongside pieces by guest artists Declan Buckley and Caroline Burstein Hammond. A percentage of all sales will go to Maggie’s.
The Staffordshire pottery 1882 Ltd has donated an exclusive vase to the sale. Maggie’s cancer support charity was founded in 1993 by Maggie Keswick Jencks and her husband, architect Charles Jencks.
Maggie’s is known for its beautifully designed centers, created by architects such as Richard Rogers and Zaha Hadid, which provide a comfortable space for people affected by cancer. The charity also offers art therapy and has a history of art-based fundraising activities.

Vicky Thornton says the collaboration with Maggie’s seemed natural, as the charity’s approach to space aligns with Ceramicspace’s desire to see contemporary ceramics in architectural settings. She notes that there is something in Maggie’s approach to space that they find very affecting.
Maggie Keswick Jencks founded her charity after finding the hospital environment detrimental to her spirits during her own diagnosis with breast cancer. She believed that the hospital experience could be improved with minimal effort and money to make patients feel more welcome and reassured.
The Ceramicspace exhibition in support of Maggie’s will take place at BB Italia’s Brompton design district showroom from October 22 to 24. The event aims to raise money for the charity and promote the work of Ceramicspace and its guest artists.
